Cookie Policy

Effective date: September 18, 2026

This page says what cookies are, which ones AndroidScroll sets, and how you stay in charge. Short version: our own analytics sets zero cookies, no ads run today, and only two small site choices are saved in your browser.

For the wider picture of your data, see our Privacy Policy.

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files a site asks your browser to keep. They remind the site of your choices between visits, so you do not type the same things twice.

Cookies can be:

  • First-party cookies: set by AndroidScroll on our own address
  • Third-party cookies: set by outside services we use (such as shops)
  • Session cookies: wiped when you close your browser
  • Kept cookies: they stay until they run out or you clear them

2. Site choices (needed)

Two small choices are saved in your own browser so the site looks right on your next visit, such as how the page displays. The site needs them to work well.

Opt-out choice: if you opt out of analytics on our Privacy Policy page, that choice is saved in your browser storage too.

Security: our delivery network, Cloudflare, may set security cookies that tell real readers apart from bots. They exist only to keep the site up. This site does not run on WordPress, so no WordPress login or settings cookies live here. Posting a comment needs no cookies: you type a name, an email, and your words, and that is all.

3. Analytics (Matomo, no cookies)

We measure visits with Matomo, free software on our own server. It sets zero cookies. Nothing analytic lands on your phone.

We count pages opened, where readers came from, phone and browser type, and rough place. IP addresses are cut short on arrival and never stored whole. Every record is wiped for good after 24 months. Nobody outside this site sees these numbers.

Opt out: with no cookies there is nothing to block. To stay out of the counts all the same, use the opt-out box on our Privacy Policy page. Your choice rests in your browser storage, not a cookie.

4. Ad cookies (none today)

No ads run on AndroidScroll today, so no ad cookies are set. If ads ever return through Google AdSense, they may set cookies like these to pick ads and cap how often you see one:

Cookie nameUseExpiry
__gads / __gpiAd delivery and frequency caps by Google13 months
ANID, IDE, DSIDGoogle picked ads13 months to 2 years
test_cookieChecks if your browser takes cookiesSession

You can set your Google ad choices at Google Ad Settings or opt out of picked ads at aboutads.info.

Note: we do not run Google Analytics, and we do not run Cloudflare Analytics. The names above cover ad cookies only, if ads ever return.

5. Shop tracking cookies

When you tap a link to a shop such as Amazon, Jumia, or Konga, that shop sets its own cookie to note you came from us. If you buy, we earn a small fee at no cost to you.

Shops set these cookies themselves, not us. We neither see nor keep personal data from them.

ShopUseExpiry
Amazon AssociatesNotes the referral for our fee24 hours
JumiaNotes the referral for our fee30 days
KongaNotes the referral for our fee30 days

6. Email tracking (paused)

Our newsletter is paused and no signup form runs on this site, so our email provider sets nothing while you browse. If you joined before the pause, past emails may have carried an open tracker that notes reads and taps. You can block that by switching off images in your mail app, or leave the list any time with the unsubscribe link.

7. How to control cookies

Your browser settings rule cookies:

  • Chrome: Settings, then Privacy and Security, then Cookies
  • Firefox: Settings, then Privacy and Security, then Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari: Preferences, then Privacy, then Manage Website Data
  • Edge: Settings, then Cookies and Site Permissions

Add-ons such as uBlock Origin or Privacy Badger can block third-party cookies for you.

Note: blocking the site choices above may make pages forget how you set them. Commenting still works: it needs no cookies.

8. Changes to this page

When our cookie use changes, this page changes first. The date at the top always shows the latest edit.
